Thank you, Cpl Charlie Marsh of Reno, NV for the photo, and retired M/Sgt George Crofton U.S.A.F., for the composite of the photo.

Now playing: "THE HYMN"

This site is memory of Gary Gentzler (gunnyg). Before he went home to be with the Lord on 4 February ,1999 he designed this site for all of you who proudly serve our country as he did. I know in my heart, that he would of wanted this site to continue, so many of you can share his life experiences and relate to them.  Feel free to view his guestbook and also sign it if you feel to do so. Enjoy!!!

My name is Gary Gentzler. I'm a retired U.S. Marine Corps GySgt. You might have known me as "Gentz." I went through boot camp from June through September of 1958, with Plt. 160, Co. B, 1st R.T.Bn., at MCRD Parris Island, S.C. After completing Avionics School at NAS Memphis, Tn., I was assigned the MOS 6613, which was changed to 6212 later in my career. I spent time in RVN in 1963 with HMM-162. I was there again in 67 and 68 with HMM-163 and HMM-364. This site will feature pictures from those periods. At some later date, I would also like to include pictures from an Okinawa tour in 1970 and 71, with VMO-6. (My photos of HML-367 have been mispaced or lost in moving.) I was also an Avionics instructor at NATTC, NAS Memphis, TN for a number of years. I taught in the AT'A', AV'I'B, AFTA and AV'R' schools.

At present my wife Dean and I live in my hometown of York, Pa. Our son Jonathan Tome, his wife Angie, their two boys J.J. and Cody, and their brand new baby girl, Mckensie Erin live about 1/2 hour from us. Our daughter Tonja and her husband Jeramie Kramer live in Fredericksburg, Va., just south of Quantico.

For those who remember....yes, I am still a big Penn State football fan. JoePa and the Nittany Lions were, are and always will be NO. 1 to me. Sorry to my relatives in NE, TN, AR, OH and CA. Also rans!! :-))

My health has kind of failed me in the past 10-15 years, having had 2 heart attacks and three open heart surgeries, not to mention other health problems. The good Lord has seen fit to keep me around, and I'm sure not going to argue with Him! My hunting and fishing days may be numbered, but this computer and my family keep me occupied, plus communicating with old buddies that I've found, or they found me, on the net. I hope you enjoy these pages and SEMPER FI MARINES!!!
